Wilhelm Gustke of Chicago-1889
There were a lot of Gustke's/Guskes in the Chicago area that attended the 4th German Church on Noble Street. That church still exists, only it's not the 4th German any more.AND they still have the records going back to the 1870's.I have found that not ALL births were recorded with Cook County.SOME weddings were to make them legal.Midwives might have delivered childred. The church was/is on the NORTH SIDE of Chicago.I went there in 1980 after Mt. St. Helens Blew up (got outta Dodge for a while) searching the West SIDE with no luck.I was in the wrong area.Wilhelm Gustke worked for McCormack Deering. He was an artist/painter.Back then, there was a lot of "pin striping" on the wagons and implements. He got lead poisoning, thus, he had to move out west. to Tacoma, Wash in 1890.There are Guske's in Lacrosse Washington.Different crowd.Lester, Joseph, etc.Lester lives in Lacrosse. Joe Jr. lives in Spokane, Wash.
