I am a bit confused on your information you have on William GUPTON. I have different names and dates. Maybe we could clear this up together. On Feb. 20, 1662, Captin William Mosley and Captin John Hull were granted 5798 acres of land in Rappahannock County, in Virginia for transporting 116 persons from England to Virginia. Each person was allowed 50 acres of land. On the ship was William Gupton. He arrived prior to 1662. William died sometime prior to Feb. 10, 1709. He had 3 sons. William Gupton Jr., Stephen Gupton, and Francis Gupton. This is where the story sways from yours.
