Hello Alex,

I am a Gunthorpe and live in Alabama. My gr grandfather was Matthew, who was born in London. I thought you might like to know that there is a village very near Mansfield named Gunthorpe. In fact, there are four villages or small towns in England with that name. One is in Norfolk, one in Cambridgeshire and one in Lincolnshire on the River Trent. The one in Nottinghamshire is also near the River Trent. My grandfather was Frederick, oldest son of Matthew whose father was also Frederick. I believe that Matthew's grandfather was John Gunthorpe as it stands now. Tell me more.
Mary
