William Gunter, born in Herefordshire, England, Sept.1st, 1847, died May 3rd, 1903, aged 55 years, 8 months and 2 days. His parents came to Utica, New York when he was three years of age. They lived there five years and then moved to Kenosha County, Wisconsin. At the age of sixteen he enlisted in Company G, Fifty-third Wisconsin Infantry and served the last year of the war. He was married Oct. 14th, 1869, to Emily G. Bohanan. Six children were born to them, five of whom are living, Charles and Mrs. Grace Shepard of Bristol, WI; Mrs. Belle Prince, Harvey L. and William H., of Paris, WI. He was a member of George B. Lincoln Post No.215 G.A.R. He united with the Paris, WI, M. E. Church several years ago. The funeral was held from the Paris M.E. Church on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended. The sermon was preached by Rev. W.W. Wilson, and music was in charge of the Paris Choir assisted by Mrs. Alex Sumpter. The G.A.R. and the W.R.C. took charge of the service at the grave, the bearers being Messrs: Chas. Clinak, D.N. Jones, Jas. Smith, H. Morey and O. Esmond, former comrades of Mr. Gunter.
