Thanks for posting the link. However, BEWARE of its content. I've recently starting researching my Gunter family and must admit that I've been faced with confusion regarding so many John Gunters. However, I am not confused when I say that the info posted, at least a portion of it, is at the least misleading. I will address a portion here:
4John Byron Gunter 1850 - 1938
....+Dicy Bell 1851 -
... 5John Chester Gunter 1873 - 1899
.......+Fannie Lou Brown 1873 -
... 5Palmer B. Gunter 1875 -
... 5Joseph W. Gunter 1877 -
... 5Synthia L. Gunter 1878 -
...*2nd Wife of John Byron Gunter:
.....+Sally Maxwell
...*3rd Wife of John Byron Gunter:
.....+Mary Elizabeth Young 1863 - 1939
... 5Mattie Sue Gunter
... 5Blanche Gunter 1875 - 1972
.......+R. B. (Bud) Wheelis 1868 -
... 5Cythenia Gunter 1877 - 1978
........+Babe Smith
Starting with Babe Smith. He was my great grandfather. His name was John Singleton Smith and his nickname was "Babe". He was born 15 Mar 1869 and died 05 Jun 1964 in Fitzgerald, Ben Hill Co, GA. He married Cynthia Louise Gunter on 23 Apr 1895 in Elbert Co, GA. Her nickname was Lula. She was born 10 Mar 1879 and died 10 Feb 1978.They are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ben Hill Co, GA.
The parents of my great grandmother, Cynthia Louise Gunter, and as listed on her death certificate, were John BYNUM Gunter and DICEY BELL DOWNER. (Note the parentage listed on the web post.)
I hope this is helpful to someone out there. If anyone has information on John Bynum Gunter and Dicey Bell Downer, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,
Hazel
