Just ran across in an old family bible a record of Thos. Gummoe, b. Sept. 30, 1846 in the parish of ST. James, Cornwall and since you wrote Cornwall I wondered if you have any connection. This is not my family -rather the husband of a friend of my mother. Long story ---however, her husband's father was Fred Gummo and he was an old time dentist in Waverly, Kansas. Evidently they dropped the e on their name when they came to Kansas. Thomas married Catherine ---, b. Oct. 23, 1845. Their children were Elizabeth Jane, b. Aug. 7, 1868, Fredrick, b. Dec. 5, 1869 and Edith, b. Feb. 4, 1871, all in Cornwall, England. Edith and Fred married in Edgerton and Lawrence, KS, then he came to Waverly. This may not be any of your line but someone else may find it worthwhile.
