Hello,
My family is not well-versed in recent history, and a good portion are no longer with us, but my great-grandmother (I don't even know here name)is said to be 100 percent Cherokee out of Oklahoma.I know she married a man named Moore and my grandmother and her twin sister, Nora and Lora Moore, were huge influences on me in my early years.Mora married my granfather, Franklin Eugene Gum in the 30s.I have not found any mention of his family (again I do not know his parents names, however, I believe he was from Missouri before settling in Arizona in the late 30s early 40s.Here is what I know for sure...
Franklin Eugene Gum
- brother of William Gum
- brother of Rudolph Gum
married Nora Arthula Moore in AZ, settled in Ash Fork, AZ
- son - Franklin Eugene Gum, married Patricia Ann West (four children, Michelle, Franklin E., III, Vance and Rachel Gum)
- son - Wilmer Louis Gum (b. 1944), married Patricai Ann Lucky (two children, Lora Kristine and Wilmer Louis, Jr, (me!))
- daughter - Terry Ann Gum, married John Cauthen (two chlidren, John T. Jr. and Curtis Dale Cauthen).
Sadly that is all I know of my family history and both grandparents and great aunt Lora have passed away. Lora Moore passed away in Minco, OK where she lived most all her life. She used to tell me about their mother, who my great-grandfather (apparently and hopefully affectionately) referred to as "Old Squaw."
Thank you for providing so much informtiaon on this site - I have always been curious about my family tree, especially since I have so little knowledge of it.
Louis
