It would be very useful if a Patrick O'Gullion direct male descendant (male with surname Gullion) and a Hugh/Barnett/Duncan O'Gullion, etc (southwest VA) line direct male descendant would have their Y-DNA tested through familytreedna.com or one of the other genealogy DNA test sites. We would have a pretty definitive answer of whether Patrick and Duncan were related -- if there were a perfect match in the y-DNA results of the two DNA donors, we'd know that they were brothers or father/son, cousins, etc. If the results don't match or don't closely match, probably not related. Anyone interested can go to familytreedna.com and learn about the tests. If you request the DNA test kit by joining the Gullion project, you can get a Group rate for the test kit.

I just looked at the web site for Gullion and looks as if there may be only one donor so far, though I'm not sure the "1" indicates a donor result -- here's the information:

SEARCH RESULTS
The following names matched your search request:
NAME COUNT
Gullion 1
You can add your name to the database by ordering a test today or, you can create a Surname Project to help reconstruct your family tree.

Unfortunately, we female descendants of the Gullion men are unable to have the Y-DNA tests for the Gullion line.

Linda
