Ed, I have long wondered about and tried to be alert to a possible connection between Patrick O'Gullion's family and Duncan's line. I've never seen a stitch of evidence they were kin, but I believe that they were.

I have wondered if the Revolutinary War and their disparate beliefs might have created enmity between the families. Duncan was captured and hauled into court in Williamsburg VA for "treason" -- he was a Tory, perhaps his brothers or son, whatever the other men were, also were Tories. As you know, Jeremiah and his two brothers, John & Robert, all fought with the American colonists during the Revolution. I didn't actually see the record of Duncan's trial, a lady in Virginia of the west VA Gullion's, told me she had seen the record and Duncan bit the ear off another prisoner while he was in jail. I did find a record that he had been captured and the sheriff was taking him to Williamsburg for trail; next record was that the sheriff had sold Duncan's horse to pay for the expenses of that little trip -- Duncan had escaped from him. But the Sheriff persevered and Duncan was recaptured and stood trial. I don't know the results of the trial.

I don't know the source of Joseph O. Gullion's (or O'Gullion?) being the son of Jeremiah of Rev War. If he were, why wasn't he listed by name and birth date in George Gullion's little book "George Gullion - his book" that was part of the pension application of Isabelle Patty Gullion? All the rest of the children were listed, even Thomas -- and Thomas was probably dead by the time he was listed because both his children were listed. I have seen the record of Joseph Gullion's being a prisoner on the ship during the Rev War, but nothing to say his parentage. Sans any other evidence, I could think he a son of one of Patrick's other sons or maybe of the Duncan O'Gullion clan . . Joseph was a very common name, so Joseph's among Jeremiah's relatives doesn't lend much support. Do we have anything supporting the parentage of Joseph?
