George Gullett 1813
Looking for information on George Gullett born 1813, Maury County, TN to Samuel and Rebecca Thompson Gullett.
He married Emily ______ in MS sometime prior to 1849 as a son John W. Gullett is listed born 1849-50. The U S Census shows him employed as a ferryman, married to Emily with a less than one year old son John W, in Madison, MS in 1850. Another son, George Washington Gullett was born in Bell County, Texas in 1855 and the name George Gullett is inscribed on a ballot in Nolansville, Bell County, Texas in 1850, so we theorize that the family relocated to Central Texas sometime in 1850. A third son, Samuel, was born in Bell County in 1857. We find no further mention of George Gullett but find Emily Gullett remarried to a C. C. Berry with a son (Wm J. berry, b 1859) and John, George and Samuel living in the same household. So we further theorize that George must have died between late 1856-early 1857...before Samuel's birth and that the wife Emily remarried.
We find a George Gullett from Texas who enlisted in the CSA Army, serving as an assistant surgeon in the Civil War, captured and imprisoned at Camp Chase in Ohio who died there in 1865. We do not know if this is the same George Gullett born 1813 in Maury County, TN. If so, perhaps he was reported or thought dead and Emily remarried not knowing he was a prisoner of war...if this is even the same George Gullett.
Would appreciate any leads on either George, Emily or any other information on this line of the Gullett family that anyone may have.
Thanks.
