Hendrick (van) Gulick married Geertruyt Willekins (Wellekens)who was born in Hamberg, Germany. They are on record as being in New Amsterdam (LongIsland) in 1653.

Hendrick witness a baptism on May 11, 1653.He died later the same year.It is probably that both Hendrick and Geertruyt were German as there is an indication that her father moved to North Holland (Amsterdam). The name Gulick was an old part of Germany. Also a Gulick and Cleve fought the Spanish in the area that is now northwest Germany around 1600.The people of that northern region were deeply divided over religion.
