Guinn in 1850's Cherokee Co., Texas
The Guinn families in Cherokee County, Texas were there before 1860, mostly descended from John Guinn/Gwinn. In 1856, there was Dr. John K. McGrew (from Ohio) and wife Ann Eliza Guinn/Gwinn McGrew livng there, according to a newspaper from Cherokee County. Later Dr. McGrew was in Limestone County with son James, living with another McGrew family. A. E. Guinn McGrew was in Palestine, Anderson Co., TX where she was living at least by June 1862. A. G. Cantley, active in local and state politics, met her, the story is that he left his family to be with her (McGrew family story). Dr. McGrew could have died about 1861, the date is unclear according to his descendants who returned to Ohio and lived. Later the Cantley couple were in Hamilton Co., Ohio by 1875, near the McGrew/Guinn sons. A. G. Cantley died 1878.
