I sent this to you to your personal email addy, but decided to post it for the benefit of others.
Here is information which was researched by someone else but I have confidence in this person.
John Guinn was born about 1775-1780, poss. in VA
Jane, some claim her name was Sarah Jane Holbrook but no one can show me any proof. She was listed as Jane on the census after John presumably died. She was prob. born about 1775-1780, poss. in NC
Children, all born in Fentress Co. TN:
1.Sarah "Sally", b. 1800, m. George OWEN
2.Susannah "Susan" b. 1802, m. Isaac BEATY, 5 Aug. 1824 in Rutherford Co., TN
3.Pheriba, b. 1803, d. 1910, m. Samuel SCROGGINS
4.Jeremiah, b. 1805, m. Nancy UNKNOWN
5.John Rose, b. 9 Jan. 1812. m. 1st Mahala BEATY, 2nd Mary Ann SIMMS HAMILTON in Green Co. MO, d. 1874 in Chico, Butte Co., CA
6.Harvey, b. abt. 1815, m. Sarah PILE (nothing else known about him)
7.Andrew Bailey, b. 1817, m. 1st Francis SIMMS DRYDEN, 2nd Susie Angeline PRICE, d. 1892 in Little Rock, AR.Was a circuit riding preacher.
8.David Sanford, b. 1819
9.Wesley W., b. 1820, m. Catherine TAYLOR (her married name) 3 Jan. 1847, Green Co. MO, divorced 1852 in Green Co.
10.Sarah "Sally", b. 1824, m. Jack Redfern.(I have my doubts about this one, my source said she put her in because "she seemed to fit".But she has the same name as the first child, and while my Mom told me it wasn't unheard of--she knew one family who named one boy James and the other, Jimmy--I think it's more likely that this Sarah was a daughter to one of the sons, maybe Jeremiah.)
Re: the name Champion, there was a man who fought as a guerrilla leader in the civil war, named Champion "Champ" Ferguson, he fought against Dave "Tinker" Beaty, who was related to the Guinn's.I think it was a popular name in those days.
Hope this helps. When was your Champion born?
Peggy
