I was very pleased to receive your information from my query concerning Alfred Sidney Guin In NC – 1830. As I mentioned I had traced Alfred Guin to Randolph County, NC through family connections and neighbors who had traveled with him from NC to Harris Co., GA and then to Pickens County, AL. Like you, I found Alfred Guin In the 1830 US census for Randolph Co., NC. The earliest record I have found for him was a marriage bond of Randolph Co. between Alfred Guin and Martha Lowdermilk in July 3, 1827 with her brother, Elliott Lowdermilk acting as bondman. Based on family information I believe Alfred Guin was also married twice, his first wife being Anzalette Gaar.

There is a second possible connection. You mentioned that James Massey’s wife was Jane Poe, daughter of Simon Poe. There was a Rachel Poe who was married to Jeremiah Guin who owned land In Pickens Co., AL. Again, many thanks for your information. Dave Guin
