Hello Harrison:
What information do you have about Onesime's(Emmanuel's) immigration to Haiti? I understand that he moved his entire family there. The move was undertaken because of rumors that the Louisana Legislature was going to pass laws that would re-enslave all freedmen. I have read that some of the Donattos immigrated to Mexico. They settled near Tampico and Vera Cruz. Emmanuel's son Jean Jerome was my great-great grandfather through his daugher Avia(Olivia). I have always wondered about thier life in Haiti. My gradmother,Loretta, Avia's daughter told us that her grandfather did not return with his family to Louisiana. He remained in Haiti and returned to Louisana after reaching adulthood. I recently saw a census record where Jean-Jerome indicated that his place of birth was Haiti. Do you think we have family that remained there?

Let the truth be told!
Your Cousin,
William Gallot-Thibodeaux
