Hi Dana

The following is a message posted in GenForum by Rebbie Matthews:

WILSON CO., TENNESEE DEED BOOK T

John H. Guill to Barnett Guill 42 acres in the 25th District it being land belonging to Josiah Guill, Sr. Other Heirs: Barnett Guill, Josiah Guill, Wm Tate and his wife Ann E. Tate, Robert Crudup and the heirs of his dec'd. wife Mary J. Crudup, Robert Shepherd and his wife Susan. 4 Jan 1842 (p. 507)

This would indicate to me that our John H. Guill in Wilson County is John Hughs Guill, son of Josiah Guill Sr. and Margaret Hughs.

Other references are to John's siblings and their spouses:
Barnett Guill = William Barnett Guill
Josiah Guill = Josiah Guill Jr. (Margaret Hughs died giving birth to Josiah Jr,)
Anne E. Tate = Anne E. Guill (dau. by Josiah Sr.'s 2nd wife Judith Williamson)
Mary J. Crudup = Mary J. Guill
Susan Shepard = Susan Guill

MIGRATION OF ALEXANDER GUILL,SR.íS CHILDREN :

Iím going through the Prince Edward Co. Personel Property Tax list and this is what Iíve found so far:

Josiah GUILL last appears in 1816. In 1822 he sued Barnett Brightwell and B. Brightwell ask that Josiah pay bond or that the case be dismissed because Josiah is not a resident of Virginia. Josiah moved his family to Wilson Co., TN after the death of his first wife Margaret HUGHES(1812). The move was in 1816.

Notes: In 1830 Henry Co. census there are possible older children inticated that were not listed in the the 1850 Census. William 22 in the 1850 census was probably the 1 male under 5 in 1830, and Margaret Ann 20 in 1850 was probably the 1 female under 5 in 1830 if she was born before the census was taken that year. Note that William was born in Kentucky according to 1850 Census. John's wife was between 20-30 in 1830, 20-30? in 1840, 38 in 1850 and 44 in 1860? She was born in Kentucky or Tennessee depending on the census you look at? Even though there were probably 2 different John H. Guills, our John H. Guill in Henry County may have been married in Kentucky to a first wife and had older children by her. Nancy Jane Clayton may still have been his second wife? This would still leave us wondering who his parents were? According to 1850 Census he was born in Virginia. Back to square #1.

Confussed,
Mike Guill
