Hi Lisa-

It's interesting that this story has been passed down through various lines of the Guild family. One clue I think might be of help is the land in Natick, Mass, which John Guild willed to his daughter, Elizabeth. The town of Natick was first established as a "praying Indian town". How did John Guild come into possession of this land? Did he inherit it from his wife? Was it something she inherited and it passed to him when she died? When were the colonist first allowed to own land in Natick? Etc.

So many questions, so few answers. Yet the answer maybe out there somewhere . . .*:)
