Hi Jackie-

I am 10 generations from John Guild. To me it appears that the family "folklore" saying that John Guild married an "Indian" woman may have only been passed down through Deacon John Guild's grandson, John Guild,III's line. Finding two other Guild descendant's whose lineage connect at this same line of descent makes me wonder if it is true. Finding records which give the birthplace of John Guild's wife, Elizabeth Crooke, as Roxbury, Mass, before even the Pilgrims landed could be a recording error and the recorder could have meant Roxbury, England. Another record which makes me ask questions I found at familysearch.org. It reads "Samuell Guild, male, Other Events: Other: 1675 Wampanoag Tribe. . . Massachusetts." I asked about this record before, not sure if here or on the ancestry.com board and I was told it refers to his service in King Philip's War, which occurred 1675-1676. I'd like to know what info belongs where the ". . ." are. I'm not sure if there is anyway to find out more. If you read his will John Guild owned land in Natick, Mass which was a Praying Indian town. He left the land to his daughter, Elizabeth. If Natick was a Praying Indian town, when and how did John Guild acquire land there? To me there seems to be some questions to which there may or may not be answers. Thanks for inquiring Jackie. I'm hoping others will help figure this out. Vicky *:)
