Greetings , I recently picked up at an antique auction in Tucson, Az., a very large scrapbook of the story of the John & Mary Main Guild family written and assembled by their son John Main Guild who was born in Dundee, Scotland March 1st,1875 and married Ella Madge Hake from Avoca, Iowa. It includes Birth Cer6tificate of John M. Guild in 1875 and his parents Wedding certificate in 1868, and U.S. Citizenship papers. John M. was known throughout the world for his contributions to the railroads of the U.S. at the turn of the century , compiling the 1st. freight rate books which were used for years by the RR. He toured with the first group of Japanese Commercial Commissioners to ever visit the U.S. He also was considered the foremost authority of North America in turning around and stimulating the economies of Kansas City, Omaha, Dayton, and others at the turn of the 20th. century when times were pretty hopeless. Every organization he became involved with unanimously made him president or chairman and gave him full reign from the start. Everything this man touched turned to gold. There are documents from the War Department written to him, and many other letters, documents, and newspaper clippings, tickets to the Republican National Convention of 1926 in Kansas city, and six pages of notes taken of a personal meeting with President Truman in the Oval Office of the White House on March 19,1946, (includes 2 books of matches from the president's desk that the president gave him that say, "I Swiped these from Harry S. Truman & The President", on them). Is this the right Guild family iineage forum that I'm posting too? If so send me a message if you could, and if not and you know the right one could you straighten me out? Thank you very much, Joe Andre at These are other family surnames in his ever expanding line- Hake, Mathias, Taylor, Simpson, and Bond families. You have a Wonderful site here.
