End of GenForum?

I noted on a couple of Forums that the Search Engine no longer works and that complaints about it were being ignored. I wrote to columnist Dick Eastwood to see if he could help - here is his reply -

I doubt it.

First of all, I don't use GenForum and don't really know how it works. (I
never found much there that interested me.)

Second, I know it is owned and operated by Genealogy.com, a company that
has reduced its customer service department to zero or almost zero
employees. In fact, Genealogy.com's total employee headcount is much less
than what it used to be. Then, as mentioned in my newsletter, Genealogy.com
was acquired a few weeks ago by A&E Networks. While the purchase price was
not disclosed, the rumor mill says it was cheap. (A&E Networks already was
an investor before the acquisition.)

I am not surprised to hear of difficulties in GenForum. I suspect there is
no one left to fix it.
