>WE COULD BE COUSINS I have never found any "Guertin" that I am NOT related to! As far as I have determined only one Guertin, Louis, who arrived in 1653, produced all the rest of the North American Guertins, and there's few, if any, left in France. They pretty well died out back in Europe. Here: Joseph Guertin and I are 2nd cousins 6 times removed. So if you're related to him, then we're related! >I'M LOOKING FOR PROOF BESIDES THE ORAL HISTORY. Well, I've always done the opposite! I've been asked quite a few times about a Native American Indian connection and never found anything to substantiate it, in fact, most of the searchers have found the opposite, i.e. they have a known line back to an identifiable Guertin male. Because I deliberately chose NOT to follow-up the ancestry of the female lines which married Guertins, there is probably where searching for Native names might yield some results but... Also, you know the old saying "You can be pretty sure who your mother was, but the same might not go for your father!" Notify Administrator about this message?
