Hi, Thomas A. Birdsall - I have info about a George Elliot Garnsey, who d. MI. Also, 1880 Kalamzoo US Census info, which must be George's family, as: "Angeline E. Guernsey, @55,b. NY (pa's also b. NY) widow, keeps house, (paralyzed?) In the same house is "Gennie E.," dau, @31, single, at home, b. MI, and George G., son, @19, b. MI; works in wood yard." Somewhere along the way, they must've changed the spelling of their name. Have you been able to get the mil record for George's Civil War service? Info should be available from MI (Vet's affairs) and from Nat'l Archives.
