Guerins from France>New Mexico>Arizona>Colorado>Nevada
I'm looking for any information about our family that moved to New Mexico from France (Auvergne region, I believe). Their are several family legends about the origins of our family and I've almost sorted through them all. I've located my 7th great grandfather and I know he was born in France. But according to family legend, his parents were Gilbert Guerin and Marie LaRoche (or DeLaRoche) and they came to America with him. I've not been able to locate any information about Gilbert or Marie and was hoping that someone else may have some information. If Gilbert exists, he was born in Clermont, France.
My 7th great grandfather was Jacques Phillipe Guerin born around 1836. He had at least two siblings--Jean Baptiste Guerin, a priest in Mora County, NM and Eugenia Guerin, who married Jean Baptiste Vaur. Jacques Phillipe married Ambrosia Sena and they had at least 8 children. From what I can tell, most of the family stayed around San Miguel County. My records are lost after the 1940s as that's when my branch of the family moved to Arizona, and in the 1970s, our branch moved again to Nevada. I know some of the family stayed in New Mexico and some in Arizona, some also moved to Colorado.
Any help that you can offer is greatly appreciated, as I cannot continue any further with my research until I get some new information.
