Guerin's from Lestowel, Ireland?

Hi, my grandfather, who passed away less than two years ago, was named Richard Guerin. I believe his parents migrated to the US in the late 1800's from the Lestowel (Listowel?) area of Ireland, settled in NYC, and have had family spread out in the NY, Connecticut area, also Florida I think.

Before he died, we videotaped my grandfather talking about his history and that of his folks. I'm trying to get a copy of it. In the meantime, thought I'd dig around a bit.

Any suggestions on where to look for the history of my grandfathers family?

Also, his wife, my grandmother, was named Ryan, and her parents came from another part of Ireland - not sure where.

Thanks just for reading,

Patrick in San Francisco
