Hi Mark,

I've heard that our Gue name originally was McGue, but have never found any proof of this. Our Gue name is French and am not so sure the Mc is French. I've also have heard of the surname DeGue and have a 31 page book on a DeGue family that came over here from France. It's quite interesting to read. It was written in French. I had someone translate it for me...and have it typed up in a short booklet. In France there is a house that is an old Mansion which originally belonged to Gue's (no McGue mentioned) Would have to search for this page I copied from a book with what info was written about this mansion. I've always wanted to write for informantion about the history of this house...something I've never gotten around to.

Also, don't know if this means anything, but from the Huntington, WV phone book, several years ago I found a McGue in there and so I called them. I asked them if they had any family relation to the Gue surname. They said no..and that their family name was ??. Don't remember what nationality they said, but it wasn't French.

Don't know if this helps any. Perhaps some of our Gue cousins might know more. Cousins??
