Hi Alex,
I also live in OH, not far from where you live. Some of the Gue's I found living in Chesapeake and Proctorville, Ohio descend from Samuel Gue and Emazetta Turley. I don't know if your from this Gue family line.
I once visited a Gue living on Rt. 7 there in Chesapeake. Sorry, I don't remember his name, would have to go back and look through some of my papers. He had an Aunt Ethel Volker, living in Florida and at the time was up in her 90's. I made several telephone calls to her, getting what info I could on the descendants of Samuel Gue. She also said she had a picture of Samuel Gue, but because of her age, I never asked her to make a copy for me. I have a picture of Samuel's brother, James H. Gue and wife Mary Francis Turley, sister to Emazetta Turley.
From what I'm finding, the Gue's are of French origin. James' grandson talked of a letter that came from France, and had something to do with a will or claims to a Gue home in France. Don't know anymore about this letter, and there's no copy of it that we know of. Of course, there's no one living now that knows what exactly was contained in that letter.
