If you cannot visit the Research Library in person, copies of material listed in our genealogy indexes can be obtained by U.S. Mail. Copies can be obtained by mailing your request along with a check or money order (sorry, we do not take credit cards) to the Jefferson County Historical Society, 615 West First Street, Madison, IN 47250. Please address it to the attention of the Research Library.
The fees for obtaining material from the Family History Files and from the Fauna Mihalko Genealogy Collection are: a $5 search and handling charge, plus .25 per page copy fee. This fee includes mailing costs.
Copies of the City of Madison Death Records are $3 for the first name, and $1.50 for each additional name. This fee includes duplicating and mailing costs. Specify the name and death date of the person’s record you wish. Single requests may be emailed (scanned image) upon request, multiple copies need to be mailed.
Records are only sent upon receipt of payment. The fees collected are used solely to help defray the costs of maintaining our Research Library.
