A large group of GUDGEL/GUDGELL reearchers would also like to prove that old Andrew Gudgel did in fact serve in the war. He is listed on a monument in Gibson Co., IN as serving but according to information from the local DAR a few years back, this line is considered "closed". Apparently at some point there was a rush of names submitted, including Andrew Gudgel. Apparently there was insufficient information discovered later and the line was closed. As a group of researchers of this family we think he did in fact serve by providing supplies to the enlisted men but as far as actually serving in the field we have not been able to document that. Keep us posted if you find out more.
