The family name Grüetzmacher is translated Gritmaker or Oatmiller, the name can be spelt in the German language many ways e.g. Grützemacher, Grützmacher, Gritzmacher,Gruttemaker and in the old Grman language (Grütte) = Grutz Getreidenschrot meaning Oatmiller or Gritmiller. All of these names mean the same only spelt differently. Direct translated = Gritzmacher, Gritmaker. The orign of the name: Occupation miller = he milled oats = oatmiller = miller.
