I'm so happy to see all this on the Grubbs, particularly the sorting out of Amos Grubb's marriages. His and Mary's son Thomas J. was the father of my great-grandmother, Mary Virginia Grubb (1 Dec 1860- 6 Nov 1955. Interestingly, her mother was Harriet Jane "Jane" Maxon (30 Jul 1839 - 23 Aug 1875). I say it's interesting because Jane was a sister to Elizabeth Grubb who married Thomas' brother, Timothy Wright Maxon. Thomas and Jane were married in Virginia (Monongalia County) and moved to Ohio sometime between their marriage in 1855 and 1860, when Mary Grubb was born. They both died in Vinton County, Ohio; he in 1917 and she in 1875. He remarried -- to a Sidney Worf on 5 Jan, 1887, and they had a child. (I've not particularly pursued this line.) Mary Virginia Grubb married Joel Walden Allison (31 Jan 1853 - 9 Jul 1932). Early in their marriage but after their kids were born, the family migrated to northern Nebraska (appaently with other kin (unknown). Granddad said they nearly starved to death there and move south into northwest Oklahoma and then over in to Indian Territory (now Ottawa County, Oklahoma). I knew her, but didn't know Joel. One thing about the Grubbs that has me a bit bemused; three of Amos' kids were born in Indiana, then the family returned to Virginia. Anybody knowanything about just where they went and why? Feel free to write me (patjbell@earthlink.net) but I also do check these boards. Notify Administrator about this message?
