What I know about my Francis Marion Settle. He was kicked in the head when young and hard of hearing in one ear. This is what I gathered from Wynnewood, Ok history:

Settle, Francis Marion, 1834-1928, Quarter Master Sgt., Bates Regiment, Texas Artillery, CSA, Oaklawn Cemetery, Wynnewood, Sarah A. ( from CW soldiers buried in OK)

Francis Marion Settle

Quarter Master Sergeant

7th Field Battery

Texas Artillery

Born March 17, 1834 in Randolph County, Missouri

Died January 10, 1928 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, from old age, in the northwest bedroom at Dr. Settle's home at 508 E. Cherokee

Buried in Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, his grave is marked with a Confederate Marker

Francis moved to this area in 1894, probably from Texas. He was living near David's Mill near Stephenville, Texas on December 25,1867 when his son, Dr. William Eugene Settle, was born

Francis' wife was Sarah A. David. She was born March 12, 1843 and passed June 20, 1904

Francis' son, W.E., was a well known physician.

Children:
Mable
William Eugene
Francis Marion jr
James jesse
Whitt Elmo ( my grandfather) I have a picture of all the children taken in Wynnewood, Ok.
