My undocumented information is that John GROVES (1792- 1874, Champaign Co., OH) m1. Mary SUMMERS (1802-1830). They had Angelina (1824 - 1849) David, b. 1827, m. Martha J. Andrew J., b. 1829, m1. Phoebe CAIN; m2. Georgia Eva BOTKIN. Andrew had a son Barnet, which may mean there was a connection to the families of Berkeley Co., [W] VA, where Jonas GROVE deeded in 1782 to James BARNET. There were men named Barnet GROVES of Belmont Co., OH. John GROVES (1792 - 1874) m2. Hannah DANIELS (1800 - 1844) & had Lydia, Mary, Sarah, Amaziah, & John H. [Or was Mary a stepdaughter, dau/o Hannah & _ JACOBS? What about Theodore?] The 1850 Census of Champaign Co., OH, has John W. GROVES, 27, VA; Nancy A., 27, VA; & ch. Sarah A., 9; Elizabeth, 8; Hetty A., 4; May M., 2. Does John W. connect? John GROVES, b. 1792, m3. Harriet _ JACOBS (1805 - 1859) & m4. Harriet MATHEWS (1803 - 1886). John, b. 1792, may have had a brother Philip GROVES (24 Nov. 179_ - 27 Mar. 1858, bu. Vernon Cem., Catawba, OH) m. 11 Feb. 1811, Lovettsville, VA, Eve DEMORY (179_ - 1881). They were of Union Twp., Champaign Co., OH, in 1850. The same source that said the marriage was in 1811 said that Philip was b. 1796 & Eve, b. 1798, but those birth dates are not likely. Some of the GROVES families of Pennsylvania migrated west through Maryland. I found these in Marriage Licenses of Frederick Co., MD, 1778 - 1810, by Margt. E. MYER E. MYERS. GROFF, Joseph, 13 Juy 1805, Modelena COPPERSMITH GROSE, Henry, 22 Feb. 1782, Margaret DERR GROSS, William, 10 Sep. 1783, Margaret BURKHART GROVE, George, 17 Feb. 1800, Alley GIDDINGS Henry, 31 July 1798, Judith KEPHART Martin, 28 Oct. 1797, Catherine STEMPLE Peter, 2 Dec. 1793, Barbara EVERLY Peter, 11 Aug. 1798, Katy UNGLEBOWER. This isn't my line, either, but they might connect some day. My line is from George GROVES, who had sons Frederick, b. 1798, [W] VA, & Jonas, b. 1804. Notify Administrator about this message?
