I am a descendent of Solomon H. Groves, YOB 1778, VA, and I'm guessing that these are not relatives of mine, unless someone can trace John Groves of Champaign Co OH back to Winchester VA. Then we would need to have a serious conversation.
I recently found a few grave sites in the Maple Grove Cemetery located about 5 miles from my home just west of Mechanicsburg Champaign Co OH. After doing some quick research, I felt someone out there in the "Groves" world just might be interested in this. Thanks to Deb Holden, I found some census information that she entered and I'm passing it on.
First, I found the following head stones in Maple Grove Cemetery. If one wants pictures, write back to me.
The big one...........
John Groves, DOB 9 Aug 1792, DOD 3 Jun 1874
wife, Hannah, DOB 24 Jan 1800, DOD 12 Mar 1844
nothing on this headstone for John's last wife, Harriett.
Next to this was the following three head stones...
John Goves, 1842-1919
Esther Groves, 1862-1948, probably wife of John Jr.
Lydia A Otte, 1832-1908, d/o John and Hannah
Across from John and Hannah's headstone was this...
AJ(Amaziah Jacob)Groves, 1840-1927
wife, Susan, 1836-1911
About 100 feet from the rest of the family was these headstones...

wife, Sarah E Groves, 1842-1919
Then, I did some quick research on censuses and found this census information from Deb Holden from another website. Thanks Deb for the use of your work. Rule #1, Must give credit due where it belongs.
