I suspect you may be right.I've long thought that with a name as uncommon as Grovenbery, it would be easy to track him, but not so!
This is the sum total of what I have.
GARRETT AUBREY GROVENBERY s/o ? b. 1809 NY d. 22 Nov 1883 Clay Center, Clay Co. KS m. 12 Jan 1841 OH, ESTHER HUGHES (b. 25 Apr 1824 OH d. 21 May 1879 Clay Center, Clay Co. KS d/o ? Hughes & Celinda ? (Salinda died of typhoid fever during an epidemic.)
Children:Salinda E. Grovenbery b. 1844 Columbus, Franklin Co. OH d. 1870 Clay Center, Clay Co. KS bur. Clay Center, Clay Co. KS m. Sullivant Lucas Aumstrong 3 Sep 1863 Blacklick, Franklin Co. OH
I guess that they were all buried at Greenwood Cem. in Clay Center where all the Armstrongs were buried. My mother remembers going to the cemetery there with her mother on memorial day as a child.
My family notes say that this was his third marriage, so there may be children from his other marriages in the picture, too.
James William Grovenbery also may be a younger brother to Salinda and Ida Mae?
My grandmother told me that her grandmother was named Salinda (with an S) and that HER grandmother was Celinda (with a C--that would be mother of Esther Hughes)
I've wondered if Grovenbery immigrated to America early 1800's--since not much info on him.
I'm interested in whatever you have on your family.Post it here so others might benefit and contribute.Never know when something might fit together.
Keep in touch.
