Edouard Groulx (I) was born ca 1807 to Joseph Groulx and Marie Josephte St-Aubin.Joseph and Marie were married in St-Laurent Parish, Montreal.Possibly Edouard was born in that parish as well.On 30 January 1832 Edouard married Marie Angelique (Julie) Langevin dite Lacroix in Ste-Genevieve Parish, Montreal. Parish records indicate that they had two children in successive years, the first baptized was an unnamed son and the second Marie Angelique Groulx. No further baptisms are recorded in Ste-Genevieve for Edouard and Julie.Edouard (II) was born about 5 years after Marie Angelique Groulx according to his age as stated in MI census records.Edouard (I) must have moved about 1835 to an as yet unknown parish.Edouard (II) married Martine (Christine) Lalonde 8 February 1858 in St-Polycarpe Parish, Soulange Co. just west of Montreal. They had two children in the following years, a daughter who died at 2 weeks of age and Edouard (III) in 1860.My great grandfather Ignace (Ernest) was born in 1861 but there is no baptismal record in St-Polycarpe.Another move!Marriage record indicate that Marie Angelique (Julie) Groulx and two other sons of Edouard (I), Joseph and Napoleon, were married in Ripon, CA.They aren't in Ripon Twp in the 1861 census although they might have been in a nearby Twp but I didn't check them all.About 1865 Edouard (II) and family have moved to Bay City, MI.By 1881 Edouard (I) and Joseph had moved too.A few years after that Napoleon arrives as well.Julie and her husband Louis Lacombe apparent stay in CA.Edouard (I), Edouard (II), and, I believe, Joseph die in Bay County.Napoleon Groulx/Grew apparently died in Tuscola Co. having moved in with one of his sons after his wife died. This is all I currently have on places.
On your side, do you know who Antoine's parents were?I have a searchable index to all the Groulx marriages in the Loiselle index and supplement.I can't find Antoine's marriage based just on his wife's given name. Her maiden name would make it certain.Chances of finding his parent's marriage are better. That might help me connect our lines, if they connect. There are two Groulx lines in Canada founded by two differenct immigrants. The name spellings were different in France but became the same in Canada due to similarity in pronunciation.
