Gross, Jared 1817 SC, GA
I am looking for a Jared Groce/Gross.In the will of Jesse THOMPSON,who dies leaving 4 underage children who were placed in the homes of others. One boy was said to be in school in Tennessee.Another, Drury, is in the home of a Jared Groce. The father died in South Carolina or Georgia.I have a Drury Thompson born in 1801 who turns up in Roane County, Tennessee in 1831.I have no idea where he was before that.My gUncle said in his records that he was born in Virginia or South Carolina. This leaves me to believe that his parents moved somewhere near the time he was born and he was not sure of which state they lived in at the time.I do not have the name of his father. It is assumed that he died at an early age and therefore there are no record.Does any of this information fit into any knowledge you may have of these people?
I have found many Drury Thompson in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and in Roane County,Tennessee where my Drury married Louranie (Lorena) Hudson. All of their children were born in Tennessee and after their birth the family moved to Cedar County Missouri where they are both buried along with their son Drury Waddy Thompson.Waddy was born in 1844 in Roane County, TN.In 1823 another Waddy Thompson married in Roane County, TN.Could this be a brother of Drury? Is that why he shows up in Roane County?I thought when I found the name Waddy that it would make the search easy but there are Waddy Thompsons all over the south.I found a Thompson that married a Waddy and a Thompson that married a Drury.I am sure that they are all connected in some way.
I am placing this in the Thompson forum also..Hope I hear from someone.
