OBIT-Edward C. Gross of NV, 82, b:MA, son of Carl E. & Barbara E. (Malia) Gross
SPARKS, Nevada -- Edward C. Gross, age 82, died peacefully on April 8, 2010 at The Arbors in Sparks NV. Born and raised in Lowell, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Barbara E. (Malia) Gross. He received his education in the Lowell school system, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1945.
Ed studied aircraft mechanics at East Coast AeroTech, Bedford MA where he also obtained a student pilot's license and flew solo in a Piper Cub over his parent's home, wings waving.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947 and was stationed in Germany. In 1951, Ed headed west, residing in Los Angeles CA and Las Vegas NV before settling in Sparks NV. He was a bus driver for the Las Vegas-Tonopah-Reno (LTR) Stage Line until retirement.
There didn't seem to be a thing that Ed couldn't repair, especially automobiles, but his primary interest and topic of discussion was the Stock Market.
He is survived by a brother, Richard W. and his wife Marian Gross of Maynard MA, a sister, Barbara A. Gross of Lowell MA, a nephew, Richard W. Gross Jr. and his wife Melinda of Danville CA, a niece, Karen Gross of Marlboro MA and two grandnephews, Kevin Gross of Danville CA and Richard Manley of Aspen CO and a dear friend, Della Felix of Whittier CA.
SPARKS -- Ed was buried in the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley NV per his wishes. A Mass in his memory will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, 374 Stevens Street, Lowell MA on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 8:30 A.M. For those who wish, memorials of your choice may be made in his name.
