Article from the Confederate Veteran mag., dated Jan., 1925, page 5 [p].
Two of the surviving Confederate veterans of Lee County, N.C., are THOMAS and ATLAS GROSS, twin brothers, now 78 years old. They joined the Confederate army at the age of 17 and served in Company H, of the Junior Reserves, or 70th N.C. Regiment, under Maj. Walter Clark. They went through the war and took part in the battle of Bentonville, N.C. , the last hard battle fought in thaT sTATE.
After the war closed these brothers, went about the task of building up the devasted South with as much enthusiasm as they displayed in battle. They settled down to farming and made a success in life. THOMAS, is still actively engaged in farming. Both brothers married happily and have reared 6 children each, 4 girls and 2 boys.
[ hope someone may find this interesting].
