I've been six weeks helping people dig out from Katrina, so I never knew you hadn't answered!
The pics were from completely different sources. the four brothers were:Ellison Lafayette(1846-1914 was my great-grandfather) Gustavus Adolphus, Presley Monroe, and Charles Jefferson Gross. The daughter, Sarah, was not pictured. These were the children of John Robert Gross(1825-1863), who was the son of Ellison Gross (1794-1875). According to my info, (From ship's lists) Hans Conrad and Felix Gross debarked from the 'Francis and Elizebeth' 30 October, 1743. They landed at Philadelphia, PA, and drifted down to Salisbury, NC. Some of them served in the Revolution. Some scattered, some stayed. One changed the spelling of his name to 'Groce' and went to Texas with Austin's 300, some of the first settlers of the Brazos area. The legendary route that Lafayette took from SC to meet George Washington took him through the town where one of one of my(our?) ancestors was a member of the Regulators.(Men who physically opposed the King's taxes) On Lafayette's tour in the 1820s he supposedly visited some of the same places, and according to legend, that is where my G-Grandfather got his middle name.....
