Groseclose VA to IA to KS, any connections?
I have a mystery that actually involves my Thompson line but connects to Groseclose. Can you connect?
Andrew Groseclose (1835-1872) and Elizabeth M. Staley (1834-?) had several children including:
Hayward Absolom Groseclose (1857-1928) who married Mary Ann Thompson (1859-1937).Both were born in Wythe County, VA and died in Kansas City, KS.
Mary Ann Groseclose (1859-?) sister to Hayward above married Lorenzo Paris Thompson (1847-?)They were also from VA but moved to Iowa in the 1860's-1870's for a very short time and moved back to VA.
Mary had a brother named Ephraim W. Thompson (1844-?) married to Margaret Victoria Patterson (1845-?).They moved to Iowa c.1867 and stayed a while longer but may have moved on.My great-grandfather was their son born in Delaware County, IA 1871.
The only common thread I could see is Groseclose.
Mary headed "west" with her parents with both dying on the trip.Possibly they went to Iowa before settling in neighboring Kansas?then Paris moved with his "Groseclose" wife to follow but didn't stay only after first encouraging Ephraim to move out also... only Ephraim remained while Paris moved back?
Any connections out there who may be able to unravel this mystery and help locate my Ephraim Thompson?
Thanks!
Steven
