Betty, I was wondering if anyone has contacted you directly regarding your Grose's. I am very interested in any info that you have at this point.I too, am looking to find some connections regarding the surnames of Grose and Gross and also Groff. My GGGGrandfather was Abraham Gross, born approx. 1787, married Catherine? On his land Granthis name was spelled Groff(I have been told that the German's s's look like f's. Then, due to the census people spelling their names differently, the spelling changed from Groff to Groce in 1850 (Morgan Co. VA(now Wva). It was said that he was from Maryland, but he could have been born in Pa. because the census people were not clear when asking questions. All of my Gross's spell their names GROSS.Then again, I have not found all of my descendants. There could very well be some out there spelling their name Grose! My GGGrandfather was Dennis Gross and he moved from Morgan Co., PAw-Paw Va. to Ohio, and then to Braxton Co. WVa. I had quite a few Gross's in Braxton. Also in Webster. (Webster before Braxton. My GGrandfather William Gross married Gedidah Jackson-Gross. They were in Webster and then moved to Braxton. My Grandmother was Emma Dell Gross-Lamb. I have been trying to find Abraham Gross for quite some time now. If you could give me some names of your Grose or Gross descendants, there may be a link somewhere. I would love to get past Abraham one day and find out where my people were originally from. All the places you have mentioned sound like the places my people lived. Please email me direct if you think there is a possible link somewhere. As many times as the census takers have spelled the name differently, this is kind of hard to put a finger on who is related and who isn't. It is worth a try. Thank you in advance. My email is [email protected].
Thanks again!Oh! please let me know either way.
