Interesting. Leon McCaa tells me that the Cobbs, Jones, and Grooms had several intermarriages and there are very close connections. From what I've read the Cobbs were a very affluent family in the Wilkinson Co MS area. Martha Jones b 1855 married William Cobb in Franklin Co MS in 1877 and had two sons with him. He had a son named John W Cobb b 1865 apparently from a previous marriage. Martha and second husband Benjamin Grooms homesteaded the Cobb land bounty in Franklin Co until after 1900. Benjamin was first married to Rebecca McCaa born 1837 dau of Rev Elihu b 1802 SC and Nancy b 1817 MS. Rebecca was still at home on the 1860 census and married 1866. It is possible there was an older sister, but I haven't run the line out. Let me try to get in touch with Leon for you in reference to the McCaas. Ann
