We know that Benjamin Grooms of Franklin Co MS is the son of Valentine and Elithia Smith Groom of Wilkinson Co MS with Valentine's will naming Benjamin and Elithia as his executors in 1853 then the probate records of 1854 where Benjamin sold his interest to Valentine (Jr?). Benjamin did first marry Rebecca McCaa, daughter of Rev Elihu McCaa, then secondly Martha Jones Cobb, daughter of Hezikiah Jones. I thought that Rebecca had died in the Tipton TN along with some of the children as I haven't found records after 1880. (They had been in Union Ill, Dongola Dist in 1870). One researcher thinks they divorced. I ordered the marriage license of a Rebecca McCaa to a Johnson in Lowndes MS, but I don't think this is the same woman. I noticed that Benjamin and Rebecca's daughter Leona was spelling the name Groome when she married Henry George Hermann in Adams Co MS in 1895.
