Do we still have Groom/Grooms researchers hard at work? I posted the REV WAR records for deceased LEVI GROOMS out of Stafford Co VA and the KY bounty claim of the his heirs who were the children of his older brother John. Those children were Horatio Grooms, Elizabeth Grooms Goul, F Harrison Grooms, Thornton Grooms, and Charles H Grooms. We know that Horatio went on to become a Colonel in KY dragoons then played an instrumental role in rev and annexation of Texas-actually living in the home of Pres Mirabeau Lamar while his home was being built in what is now the historic north university Groom Annex of Austin TX. Thornton also followed Horatio to TX. Charles H Grooms died in the 1850's in Grant Co KY and I found his orphaned children in the Hickman and Fulton Co areas by 1860. I have since found another sibling of the heirs- Dr. Hiram Butler Grooms of Elkton, Todd Co KY who married Nancy Hanna, daughter of Stephen Hanna Sr and Elizabeth Foreman. Dr. Grooms indicated that he was originally from Culpepper Co VA. His son Dr. Stephen Hanna Grooms b 1838 also of Todd Co KY married Virginia A Bush of Clark Co KY, daughter of Fielding Bush and Adelaid Halliard.
