Dear Jasper:

The followup message you received from Richard is correct. My family is Jewish and my father came to US in very early 1900's. He was born in Poland and resided in Chicago.

I (and the military authorities) attempted to trace my lineage but the documents were either lost or destroyed. The Communist regime was not helpful either. My father wouldn't discuss much of that early life and my mother (german-born in Russia, came to America about the same time and settled in Wisconsin) wouldn't talk about it either.
