Yes it is the same John Grogg.
John Grogg bought land in Liberty Township in 1834. He Married Eve McConaha in 1846...and she brought 3 children to the marriage (Rachel, Sarah and Elverta)...and then they removed to Defiance County. He's got 4 children on the 1850 census that can't be Eve's because they're just too old.
1. Margaret Grogg b. abt. 1832
2. Solomon Grogg b. abt. 1834
3. Nelson Grogg b. abt. 1838
4. Nathaniel Grogg b. abt. 1840
Also in the 1840 census his household in Liberty Township is listed as having:
2 males under 5 (Nelson and Nathaniel)
1 male 5-10 years (Solomon)
1 male 30-40 years (John age 32)
2 females 5-10 years (Margaret and an unnamed daughter)
1 female 30-40 years (his first wife?)
So where is his first wife?
