Hi, I am descended from John Erwin Grogan & Nancy Gordon. Mygrandmother was Caroline Matilda Grogan who married George W. Bell. He met her when the confederate army was retreating from Sherman. She was 16 at the time. My father said he described her as the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, she had blue-black hair, dark skin and strange blue eyes. He came back after war and claimed her for his bride. The Grogans lived in Scott County, Ms. about 4 miles from Morton. I have played in the trences when I was small. We were taught that the Grogans were Black Dutch.I have a book about the Black Dutch and Cynthia Grogan vehemently denies that she is Indian. They went to court as late as World War II to prove that they were neither african oor native American.I have a blood disease that only is found in Mediterean people. The scientist that diagnosed this blood disease was puzzled because I definely look Irish. When my father explained that his grandmother was Black Dutch, he just immediately said that is where the disease comes from.
I hope maybe this may be of help to you.Eva Livingston Noblin
