Mourning Grogan - Cherokee Indian?
My grandmother Mary Lucille Cochran used to say that her great grandmother was full-blooded Cherokee. Her mother and father were Abraham Cochran & Nancy Grogan.I wonder if Mourning is the one she referred to. My grandmother's sister and her husband are still living off Lake Lucerne Road in Lilburn off Five Forks-Trickum Road. Their names are Albert and Geneva (Cochran) Malone. They are in their 90's.There is a big Grogan reunion every year about Aug or Sept up around Dawsonville/Dahlonega at a church. My parents go every year. The last time I went to a reunion it was when my grandparents were still living and I think it was held at great uncle Eldo(?) Grogan's place. Many of them raised poultry; there was a Grogan store and today they have Grogan's port-a-let service.
I work full time and don't have a lot of time to research, but I am very glad to see the Grogan postings!
