My Grogan family is also from Co. Tyrone, perhaps the same at some intersection. My ancestors went back and forth a couple times between the U.S. and Ireland before permanently settling in Ireland and the belief is that the name Grogan developed over time, starting as something more complicatedly Gaelic, changing to Grugan and finally to Grogan.
