I am from the Grogans that lived in Tazewell County. They originally came from Smyth Co Virginia and moved to Tazewell for work. I have a Clinton Allen Grogan born in 1833 as a direct relative and even though it's not exactly the man you are looking for it's a good chance it's a grandfather or close relative since it's the same name and area. My grandmother's grandfather was Frank Severe Grogan born 1888 in Scott Co, but they lived in Tazewell Co during that same time period. His father was Robert Grogan born 1853. The family all before that was from Smyth Co leading back to a William Grogan born 1788 in Ireland that died in Smyth Co. If you search around those people maybe you can come up with your guy.
